Florida voters prefer Hillary Clinton to hometown favorites in new poll

The sunshine state loves Hillary Clinton, even more than two of their native sons.

That’s the takeaway from a Quinnipiac poll released Thursday morning showing that Clinton has a double-digit lead over former Governor Jeb Bush and Senator Marco Rubio. Mrs. Clinton leads Rubio 52% to 41% and bests Bush by a 51% to 40% margin in a poll of registered voters.

She’s buoyed by three major factors, her overall popularity, her positive appeal with independents, and her popularity with women, as the Quinnipiac report explains, “Clinton is viewed much more favorably than either man, 62 – 33 percent favorable for Clinton, compared to 50 – 35 percent favorable for Bush and 41 – 34 percent for Rubio.”

By a 22 point margin, more independents view her favorably, rather than unfavorably (57% to 35%), and a whole two thirds of Florida women have a favorable view of her, along with 56% of men.
