The court firmly ruled 6-3 in favor of the plaintiff in Kirtsaeng v. John Wiley & Sons. What's more interesting is that this case could set a very interesting precedent particularly if this is seen to apply to the purchasing of pharmaceuticals as mentioned near the end of the item below. Of further interest is that Justice Thomas did NOT vote with Justice Scalia (when was the last time that happened). The three dissenting Justices were Ginsburg, Scalia and Kennedy. For what many see as being pro-consumer and therefore potentially anti-business, it's interesting that the normally pro-business Justices, Roberts, Alito and Thomas, joined with three of the more liberal justices, Breyer, Kagan and Sotomayor, to vote in the majority. The only true liberal to dissent was Justice Ginsburg.
Anyway, I thought it was an interesting ruling and even more interesting was the way the Justices broke:
