I held out to 62, but times were changing... Fewer skilled people for the work, more remote locations, all hours of the night alone, earlier times we never allowed anyone to work remote sites alone, so it was getting spooky, workmates either sudden deaths, stokes, heart attacks, so I could hear that clock ticking... When my 1st, 2nd and 3rd level managers bailed, that was the final bit. I'd had a big $10m project on my own and the new managers sent me new-hires out of Denver, LA, most half stoned, only one kid actually liked, learned, it was tougher getting rid of 'em, cleaning up their mistakes than it was worth.. So the company made the mistake of making us an offer that was irresistible.. At least to me.. So I leaped.. the physical demands were pretty decent, but the added pressures stresses with slipping support, forget it... 62 is 62, no guarantees you'll make it to 65+, so I was told by a SS agent years earlier, and it made a lot of sense.. We wanted to still have our health, camp, travel, enjoy the grandkids... It's working well..

So don't stay in there too long, things can change in an instant...

My plan is to work for another 2 1/2 years or so, or until I'm just past 68. The work's easy, there's no heavy lifting and the pay is good Wink
