He seems to be a bit old which means that this could be another short reign. Also, he's a Jesuit (the first ever to be elected Pope) which I suspect is a shock for some as while they tend to be very dedicated to the Church they are also seen a intellectuals and not always 'team' players.
BTW, he was listed as #31 by the odds-makers based on the that 'Conclave' app I downloaded onto my iPhone over the weekend. So he was definitely NOT one of the so-called frontrunners.
