Hi alea,
I rarely disagree with you or can find holes in your logic but I am perplexed by this one. People who want a smaller govt want it because they don't believe they get value for their money (taxes.) they feel they pay in but get back services that are not valuable to them. it's not so much govt services as a rule that people don't want it's paying for them. So im not following why you are suggesting people give up some govt services but continue to pay full taxes.

Why would they require it, bb?

They are gaining the benefit they wish for, which is less government.

If they are arguing they lose as a result of having less government, then I think they are removing a plank of their argument which is that government is a negative rather than a constructive force in society.

What I am arguing is that folks who want less government should pass their surplus to people who want more.

If you don't want your potholes filled, great. I'll have more of mine filled.

Alternatively, such folks acknowledge they receive benefits from government. But that is not their argument. So they are estopped from using it.
