as with presidents, i try not to prefer a candidate because of skin colour but in spite of it. if an african is the best candidate, i hope he wins. but i am not up to speed on catholic cardinals. or even on what makes a decent pope. infallible they ain't. that i know.
but gender preference is a form of pontifical bigotry which has survived since the roman era. if not now, when?
if you look at the ancient philosophy this treatment of women sits on top of, you know it is without justification.
but like other fixed constitutions, maybe the original construction of the position dooms it to seeming antique.
