On the other hand, while I think causing offence deliberately is usually no way to behave, we have a growing problem with Islamic threats to speech in the West.
On home turf, it is our culture to be permitted wide latitude. Not unlimited. But with the restrictions generally made for vulnerable groups.
Are religious minorities vulnerable?
Rather than seeming vulnerable, Islam sometimes takes threatening forms.
Are we going to have to put up with a new religion defining the boundaries of what we can say? Cowing us into submission?
I agree that being offended by offensive things is okay. But threats and violence ain't.
Suggestion to Moslems. Accept open secular rules of speech. Without them, you must be silent - and you are far more vulnerable.
