You have to understand that the Ford family will never allow Ford to do what GM and Chrysler did since that would have required them to halt making dividend payments. You see, dividends paid on Ford stock is virtually the only income that the heirs of Henry Ford makes. If you halted those dividends, their lives would be totally disrupted, which is also why they've been one of the biggest promoters of the idea that dividends should NOT be taxed at all.
