Oh Dig,

"I wonder if one could do that in the US today or whether it was ever done in say, the south?"

I wonder if those in the south have ever dabbled in the Jewish religion?

While they shout about the omission of religion in schools... we know they are only talking about 'One religion', theirs.

I had that sophomore year in high school. "World Religion" we hit the big 5: Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buhdaism, and Judaism ... didn't do any Confucius stuff. Pillars, wheels, mono vs poly, trinities, nirvana, Shiba, Vishnu ... very much just a nuts and bolts thing. Not so much on origin, but on doctrine for the living (pillars, wheels, commandments, castes) and a bit on the end game but then mostly staying away from the Abraham religions.

I wonder if one could do that in the US today or whether it was ever done in say, the south?
