Am I wrong about that?

I have a great disdain for both the GOP and the Dems. But I only align with the Libertarians on a few things. I guess I'm just out in the wilderness.

I do NOT want to privatize Social Security. I believe it should be tweaked. Probably the payroll tax increased slightly. Probably make SS benefits included in taxable income. Possibly raise the age a few months. Whatever it takes to keep it solid.

I was hoping for "single payer" health care. Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

I think the income tax should be abolished and replaced with a consumption tax that is not levied on food and certain other necessities to keep it from being regressive.

I am not in favor of banning abortion.

I am not a defense/military hawk.

I don't care about your sexuality.

I do not want to pay you for dropping out of school, sleeping in, roaming the town, and having a bunch of kids you can't support without my help.

I think Wall Street should be MUCH more heavily regulated.

I think a bunch of Wall Street folks should be in jail.

I detest all the local government giveaways to developers. I can't even list all the different abatements and such that they get.

I can only scratch my head at the folks that want to mandate Intelligent Design as part of the science curriculum.

I do, however, think that something like "Introduction to Religion" should be taught to everyone in middle or high school. A course that teaches the basics of the several major world religions. It seems that religion has a huge part to play in so much of what is going on in the world, and most folks are totally ignorant of all, or all but one, of the religions.

I lament the loss of the time when personal responsibility meant something.

Oh, and I wonder why in the world I didn't sell all (instead of just some) of my WAVX six or seven years ago when I realized the CEO was a liar.

P.S. edit - "I am not sure why you prize being seen to be the centre."

I don't prize it. Just seemed like an easy way to say that I generally disdain the "fars" of both sides. And find myself at odds with first the left and then the right (or vice versa), and can't classify myself as either. So if center isn't a good word, call it independent.
