For myself, I think the second amendment is the problem. You don't solve the killing issue by getting rid of assault weapons. Hand guns are also a problem.

The issue is far larger than the way it is presented.

Would you be willing to lose the right to bear arms to bring back the lives of those twenty children? Because that is the way to save their lives from armed killers.

It isn't going to happen. People don't want to pay that price. So the problems will continue.

The will to change the culture just isn't there. The critter hunting desire is stronger than the desire to protect children.

Dig,

There is also a difference between religion and faith! There are many very faithful people out there who espouse no particular religion. And spirituality comes into play there as well! In the United States today, only eighteen percent of all American go to church but a much higher percentage profess a belief in God. However, the percentage who believe in nothing is also on the rise, particularly among the young.

As far as the NRA and their argument about guns not killing people, we've heard that old canard for years! Gas chambers don't kill people either, but people like Hitler sure used them to make it much easier to do so! It's not so much in the ability to kill as it is in the numbers that we kill! The NRA wants use to get lost in the numbers argument while we forget the basic humanity involved at the base of all of it! While we sat in church this morning the question suddenly arose in our head: Would we be willing to trade every assault rifle in America today if it would bring back the lives of those twenty children and six adults lost in Newtown, Connecticut?
