Jindal to GOP: Stop Being ‘Stupid’ Party
So this is one way to (maybe) run for president: criticize your own party. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal closed out the Republican National Committee’s winter meeting on Friday by calling on the party to “stop being the stupid party.” “We had a number of Republicans damage the brand this year with offensive and bizarre comments,” Jindal said. “I’m here to say we’ve had a enough of that.” Jindal said the GOP “might need to change just about everything else we’re doing” while still keeping the party’s values. Jindal took special aim at Washington insiders, saying conservatism really thrives outside Capitol Hill. It appears the GOP agrees with him: hours before his speech, Republican leaders promised to release a report in March that will outline recommendations for the party to survive.
