President Barack Obama on Thursday will announce his plan to nominate former federal prosecutor Mary Jo White as the next chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, according to a White House official.
The president will also re-nominate Richard Cordray to be director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. In January 2012 Obama placed Cordray in that job through a recess appointment after Republicans threatened to block a vote on his nomination.
