SUn,

You can install XP 32 bit on that motherboard with no problems.

I had BAP install XP on one of his socket 1155 motherboards with no problems. We used 64 bit version though so he could utilize more RAM.

The 32 bit version will restrict you to slightly under 4 GB.

Other than that, you'll be fine. I really would encourage you to find XP 64 bit.
Hang on a second and let me look......

You can get 64 bit at these places, and there are more.
That way, you could get as much RAM to go with that monster motherboard (military grade) and Processor!

If I had it I would send it to you. Sorry.

micro...

Micro,

I was kicking around the possibility of Windows 8 - but last night read something about Windows 8 not always playing nice with the Galaxy video card I have.

I'd like to just reinstall Windows XP - my current copy is 32bit.

Is there any way to find out if a specific motherboard will support XP? On the 1st rebuild of Hollywood, I ran into problems and didn't get to start her up right away because the old operating system wasn't supported by the new motherboard and I had to order in the Windows XP to get her up and running. I don't want that to happen this time and waste the time.

Sun :-)
