Is there a preference between 32-bit or 64-bit?

Also, will one or the other read or not read my current hard drive (32-bit) to transfer the data on it?

Micro,

I'd really really like to reinstall Windows XP - just because it's familiar and I know how to do some things in it that I haven't figured out in Windows 7 yet.

I'm concerned though that I might get the new motherboard and processor here and find out they don't support Windows XP - had that happen on one of the rebuilds.

Windows 8 is the same price as Windows 7 - but it's even more unfamiliar. But - I read that Windows 8 isn't the resource hog that Windows 7 is - so that would be good for folding I'm thinking.

Was hoping someone out there had tried Windows 8 and could report on it ;-)

Thanks for the note on the cables as I would have missed that and probably messed it up and then wondered what the problem is! The SATA 3 or 2 would be related to the motherboard connection - correct? Or are there SATA 3 hard drives and SATA 2 hard drives?

If you have a recommendation on a similar motherboard - feel free to speak up! I'm open!

Sun :-)
