Sun -- for a change, what about taking the easy way out? That thing is under full warranty. Call EVGA and tell them the truth, that your pc ran perfectly and for months at a time until this new card came along. Put it directly in their court and have them diagnose and fix it over the phone. It'll probably work, or you'll get a replacement card if that's the verdict.

On the slower smp work after a foulup, a cold boot should return the productivity on the cpu. Not ideal, but until this thing gets fixed, might as well finish out the affected smp work at full speed.

This will get fixed, Sun, but let's let EVGA do it at least at the front. Or see what they say, like maybe oh yeah, you need to blahblahblah. Anyway whatever it is, it's their job to fix it. We might all learn something too. Just a thought. Thenagain Micro might jump in and say first try this, and it'll work, we'll see.

Team,

Hollywood is still shutting down and restarting periodically.

I'm at a loss as to why, unless it's something in the video card - I believe it came factory overclocked. Is there something I can do to tweak it down a little to see if that resolves it?

I have EVGA Precision X installed - am just not sure what I need to tweak down and if I tweak one thing, do I also need to tweak something else?

My temperatures on the CPU and Motherboard are cooler now than they were pre new card - the IO hub controller is running a tiny bit cooler, but does jump around a tiny bit.

I'm at a loss - but it's costing productivity - once she does the restart - the smp folding cuts back to standard rather than optimized and not only do we lose the down time while she restarts, but the work units take 3-4 times as long to complete - which in turns affects the bonus factor.

The shut-down also extends out the GPU folding time as well.

Any ideas out there what I need to try?

Thanks!

Sun :-)
