...when ya have 30 billion in spending that has nothing to do with the intent of the bill hidden within the bill, it means ya have hidden a lot of spending that couldn't stand on it's own. That means ya have a spending problem, not a revenue problem, and thusly tax increases are not in order.

We don't know about the 17 billion in block grants but the rest of this so called pork seemed pretty reasonable and needed to us. John McCain did a great disservice to everybody when he helped to get earmarks cancelled. There are needs for government spending and it is simply a shame that they simply cannot be introduced in their own bills and passed on the floors of congress. It is sad when you have to add as pork, things such as roof repair, which is obviously badly needed!
