I really wonder what good this is going to do.

If we're discussing public safety, then I think it only fair that the names and addresses of people who have driver's licenses, have a vehicle registered at their address, have ever filled a prescription for any drug categorized as possibly addictive, or have purchased any alcohol should also be published.

Like firearms, these things are all safe in the right hands and properly used, but dangerous and potential fatal when mis-used or in the wrong hands.

Seems fair to me. Public safety and all.

An interactive map showing the names and addresses of all handgun permit holders in New York's Westchester and Rockland counties has infuriated many readers since it was posted Saturday on a newspaper's website.
The map, published by The Journal News, allows readers to zoom in on red dots that indicate which residents are licensed to own pistols or revolvers.
