Michigan Governor Rick Snyder vetoed a bill that would have allowed concealed guns in public schools, just four days after the massacre of 20 pupils in Connecticut.
The 54-year-old Republican announced his decision in a news release.
The measure, which also would have permitted firearms in hospitals and stadiums, was among several under consideration in states including Ohio, Oklahoma and Alabama to redefine where residents may carry or keep guns.
