Trigger's in reach, easily, no need to shoulder it a final time...

Old friend at work, back in the late 70s, deeply depressed, his wife had survived a kitchen stove explosion, only to fall to cancer, his drinking increased, the day of his wife's funeral, the kids cut loose, broke into their home, stole anything worth pawning, many insurmountable issues, but under it, he was a good guy, trying to make his way... Unsuccessful in many ways, and even his attempted suicide, he tried a shotgun, lost half his jaw, side of his face, almost lost the eye... VA hospital patched him up, we saw him a few times after, seemed to be OK, but long term within a couple years he'd OD'd on booze, drank himself to death... He'd been an alcoholic for years, but in the end, went out his way I guess... Tragic, he had help, friends, but he never just never got over his wife's tragic death.. No matter who tried to help... A shame...

How can a person commit suicide with a high power rifle, like the one used yesterday?
Its the reach too much, to pull the trigger?
