Now, now, ribit... if he doesn't know about it, it doesn't exist. Isn't that how it's supposed to work?

Tight gun control does not reduce crime. It just changes the weapon of choice. Virginia has a higher population, and a little over half the violent crime rate, of Massachusetts. And Washington, D.C. ... well, you can see how well their strict gun control plan is working on the crime rate: They have the highest per capita crime rate in the nation.

Violent Crime rates in 2011

State # Violent crimes Per 100,000
Massachusetts 28,219 386.3
Virginia 15,923 196.7
Washington, D.C. 7,429 1,202.1

("Violent Crime" includes murder, aggravated assault, forcible rape, and robbery)

From the Uniform crime Report (http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/violent-crime/violent-crime)[b]
