Weco,

BTW, banks no longer do Savings Bonds. It's all done online now, directly with the Feds.

And yes, years ago most all banks would run debits before credits but I think that's illegal now. In fact, I think the new rule is that they can only look at your balance, for purposes of determining whether you're overdrawn or not, at the end of the day after ALL transactions have been recorded. Also, I suspect that online banking has made things much more transparent and so consistently pulling crap like that would be much too easy to spot.

Good move...

We were prompted to bail from B/A many years ago back in the day when week to week checks were tight.. so we had check protection turned on, they'd cover, fill in from their CC account.. Except we caught them doing all withdrawals, checks before doing Deposits! So every moth another charged amount! When called on it, no promise to reverse the procedure.. OK, cancelled, moved right across the parking lot to a locally owned Bank, stayed there for many years, was actually manned with people we got to know, then they tightened, went to part timers, final straw was refusing to handle a like of US Bonds, went to a B/A branch, not even a question... Contacted Treasury, and on my way home, stopped by the 'local' bank, rather loudly requested the managers name and contact number, explaining why.. Got real quiet, but they gave me the info.. Seems Treasury was very interested in any Bank failing to handle US Bonds... Anyway by that time we were established at our WeCo CU as well as a local CU where we are today... B/A was o slimy, in early days were charging for online access, crazy... CU is not only a free access, but complete, well organized, BilPay, all of it... we can manage it all from where ever we wander.. Good people, besides...

Anyway, good move!
