I may be guilty of unintentionally giving the wrong impression. All I meant on Kepler wrt folding was that 768 Kepler cores for the time being do not or would not equal 768 Fermi cores. For FOLDING. For NOW. They're fine and you'll be better than the current card, just don't think of it as at least as good as 768 Fermi cores and then start multiplying. Maybe it will be once F@H optimizes the code, I don't know. They're supposed to be miles ahead in terms of energy consumption and heat reduction with the same performance.

My condolences on the card, Micro. It was a brave and hearty soul and gave its life for a noble cause. As you say, in its afterlife it can still do other things, like support Mrs. Micro's online gaming which I know you have plans to introduce her to in the New Year as a means to get green lighted on more high-end cards. Sneaky huh? Naughty Idea

Here's an idea to save you the downtime on the office card as it overnights at your house. Do it the other way and take the folding-dead card from its resting place into the office for possible resurrection. Test accomplishes the same thing and the total downtime is minutes if it's no good. Unless I'm missing something.

Guys,
the funeral was yesterday. I gave it the last rites of the Video Card church. I cleaned it, sprayed it out with compressed air, vacuumed it, put it back in the slot, activated the client 7 and it ran for ten minutes before blue screening.

Temp was 77 degrees C at the time.

Funny thing. It works o.k. for just providing video for the desktop and not under load.

WHAT I SHOULD DO, is unhook a video card here at work and bring it home and run it there to see if it is indeed the card

BUTTTTTTTTT

I am running XP Pro 32 bit on both computers here without difficulty , and it is the same operating system at home with SP 3 and all the updates.

I just think because of that the video card is likely the culprit probably because of the many hours I Had it running in the upper 80's and even 90's before when I had windows 7 64 bit installed.

Maybe the HEAT got to the GPU finally.

Anyway, I informed mrs. micro my video card was dead from folding.
And she KNOWS I love to fold so maybe she won't resist me too much from buying another video card.

I really hate to think that the problem is the operating system instead of the card because the operating system is just fine until that card gets folding at 100 percent. Then we seize up, non responsive, and blue screen and reboot.

I think it is the card.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?????

Thanks in advance guys.

Also, IF I purchase that KEPLER card, will it still run as well as the FERMI card in point production?

I mean, 768 shaders looks like a lot to me. This should be a monster.

TIA,

micro...
