Micro, as an overall theme, I'm holding on buying and even research decisions. Reasons: unclear what Kepler is going to do for folding performance as it's not being properly exploited by the current architecture, unclear on the overall points structure as they consider/test incorporating Quick Return Bonus (a la SMP) into all GPU folding.

I'm waiting for all this to sort itself out, probably all at once in the new year is my unjustified guess as to when. My feel for things is that right now a Kepler core doesn't even equal a Fermi core in the overall folding compensation structure.

That doesn't help you with your current problem of having a 550ti that won't fold. If you're moving before things shake out and become a little more clear, as always your better judgement will prevail, you're not going to go wrong buying quality and making the best value decision, another reason why the New Year beckons.

Hi all.

First, thanks for every single prayer sent heavenward for me. Thanks for your compassion and concern.

I am better today than Friday for sure. That said, I am not going to over do anything, trust me.

My biggest battles now will be NOT getting ILL before December 17. Lots of that anti-germ stuff in a pump jar for me.

The news.

I was looking at a GTX 560 Ti at NewEgg for $145.00

768 or so CUDA CORES. EVGA.

I think my Zotac 550Ti has gone south on me as far as folding is concerned.
Every time I run it, the system crashes after about an hour.

When I am not running folding everything is fine. I can't help but think that something is definitely related to that card and GPU folding.

I cannot get on the floor and pull it out but applying some common sense leads me to this conclusion.

ArVee, Mark, Duit, SUN, BAP, any thoughts????

I think after the holidays I may just purchase this GTX 650 Ti to replace it.

Looks like a lot of bang for the buck on that 650 Ti card.

Anyway, your opinions are always greatly appreciated. I wishI could get this card folding but it just remains unstable folding on my XP 32 bit operating system for no apparent reason, and it runs HOT, like about 88 degrees.

Okay, time to scoot now but I'll check back in later.

Have a GREAT DAY everyone.
