I think I bought the original Filemaker that would have been back on the Fat Mac... That program has been solid, never, ever a crash or messed up database... It came on floppies, not sure I have them or not.. I went forever before giving in, updating to FM9 Pro... Also a MacPro here, overkill, but there was no in between, either a mini or iMac or the MacPro... A smaller box with just 2 HDs would do me fine, altho I've loaded all the bays, TM, clone backups (2), i'm using the 2nd IDE slot with a little sled for the 5th HD...

I just updated to Office 2011, Outlook is rather handicapped, went a few rounds with support staff over there being no script included to remove the old Office 2008.. Other than a full wipe, reinstall everything! A couple other annoyances, occasional crashes.. Multiple gifs in an email crashes it, even in preview... Sloppy software...

Anyway, I should redo my FM projects, but...

Some Harris Ranch Beef awaits! Daughter's BD...

Yes, I also use FileMaker Pro for my coin collection.

Not sure what the original version was which I started on 2001, but I'm currently running FileMaker Pro 12 Advanced. And yes, I've never had any problems upgrading from those older versions, first on a series of PowerPC-based Mac's and now on my current Intel-based Mac Pro 'tower'.

The only duplicate images are the original downloads which I leave in iPhoto, which I use as my common 'gateway'. I don't really use iPhoto for anything other than an 'interface' however now that my latest DSLR (Sony A65) geo-tags the images using it's built-in GPS system I might use it to at least verify the venues the shots were taken at so that my manual data records are accurate with respect to where the images were taken. Of course that geographic data is retained by the image file even if they're archived outside of any smart filing application, just not easily leveraged.
