it is certainly the silver lining of US devolution were it to occur. I would not mind having a greater proportion of resources going somewhere else.

the midwest has three great rivers (or 2 or 4) but they can move things, and a land that is highly amenable to road and rail, and those lakes are not that far away.

the mountain west, and the arid southwest are more problematic. UT, WY, ID, MT, CO, NV, AZ, NM ... kinda stuck, unless you refer to the higher more arid midwest, OK, KS, NE

hi dig,

why chop up the island? scotland has scots in it and they are a wee bit chippy about the sassenachs down south.

makes no sense except for this.

the most troubling quarter of the map in my model is the midwest, which is land-locked.

i like the idea that the us gives up on its militarism.
