OCU,

There are 47 million or so souls on food stamps and a little over a million people working for Wal Mart, so, we feel that this claim has no validity!

During the drive-time yesterday I heard someone make an interesting claim, which I have to admit I've not yet been able to verify, and that is that something like 25% of the families which are going to have to depend on Food Stamps for at least part of their Thanksgiving Day dinner, that one or more adult member of those families is currently working for WalMart.

Also, there was a quote that on average, the net financial impact to local municipalities where a WalMart store has been opened, in terms of tax breaks, added infrastructure expenses, additional police and emergency service costs, etc., is something over $400,000 annually.
