She is variably speculated for DoD having served as DoD policy chief for 3 years under Obama along with "Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy and Threat Reduction and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy" under Clinton. Definitely a defense policy wonk:
