I learned, almost too late to ask my elderly relatives about the past, some, like my Dad would talk of it, or didn't know, Mom had Lou Gehrig's too soon, so what may have been asked, was lost as well, so I'm left with documenting via various public records, or LDS archives, Ancetry.com is next... Meantime I need to learn ancient Danish.. What are the odds? Slim...

An Aunt, actually half Aunt, I found later, was a great source until her passing, as was her daughter, now her daughter is close, but hasn't the deep knowledge... Easy to let it all slip away...

We don't speak of this much. However, there is a tombstone of my great grandfather on my dad's side with him being born here in southern Illinois in 1844. The tombstones back beyond that are weathered and unreadable.

On mom's side we go back to 1607 and the first ship at Jamestown! The ancestor there was no one of any particular importance but he survived the first winter and propagated!

Regards,

Joe
