As W.’s former aide Karen Hughes put it in Politico on Friday, “If another Republican man says anything about rape other than it is a horrific, violent crime, I want to personally cut out his tongue.”
But the more they insulted the president with birther cracks, the more they tried to force chastity belts on women, and the more they made Hispanics, blacks and gays feel like the help, the more these groups burned to prove that, knitted together, they could give the dead-enders of white male domination the boot. (**I particularly like this sentence, it resembles some of the verbal English, constantly comma punctuated crap, I come up with**).
Just like the Bushes before him, Romney tried to portray himself as more American than his Democratic opponent. But America’s gallimaufry wasn’t knuckling under to the gentry this time.
Last time, Obama lifted up the base with his message of hope and change; this time the base lifted up Obama, with the hope he will change.
So the narrative is a move to moderation, and there are many that are thinking, enough of this crap. Moderate with humans, but not with monkeys. The left is always up in arms in one way or another, some I think, right now, are currently rather pissed off. Ahhh, is it not the case that leading a monolith (e.g. Dubya’s reign) is probably pretty easy. Leading a true plurality … that takes real skill. The next 9 months will determine the general direction of America for the next 20 years.
Again, the next 9 months will determine the general direction of America for the next 20 years. It is an FDR moment.
My data is only 3 Democrats have bagged 50+% of the popular vote in consecutive elections for President.: Jackson, FDR, Obama. On the GOP side there is Reagan, Ike, McKinley, and Grant.
Tidbits;
King, the ME independent didn’t just win the 3 way race, King emerged with 52.8% of the popular vote. King isn’t going anywhere. ME decidedly joined the ranks of New England states sending indy’s to the Senate. This was not a default victory. It was a clean win.
Up next (2014) for the donkeys:
