CF,

From our view, Iran only wants to negotiate to try to relieve the pressure, and, to buy more time to complete what they have begun. The vast majority of those living inside of Iran do not support this regime or its ideas but the radicals have been in charge for a long time since they took the embassy and the revolution back in 1979. The clerics keep order by using and controling the religious beliefs of their people and their adherence to those beliefs. We would buy into negotiation if it is contingent on inspection of those nuclear sites. Anything else is pure folly!

Regards,

Joe

hi j-t,

i think iran has more of a purpose than the destruction of israel.

iran is bent upon its own survival.

israel is part of its survival strategy. it sees israel as a regional threat and a theological sore.

but take a larger view of iran's desires and fears and it is possible to see how pressure can deliver results.

i think they were scared witless by the deterioration in the value of their currency. in my view it is this that is drawing them to the table finally.

i also wonder if the currency failure was the result of a virus, like the problems with their nuclear facility.
