Mitt--You Watching "Sandy" Coverage?
Mitt, did you see equipment-laden firefighters out there in heavy wind and rain trying to save expensive homes of ignoramuses who ignored repeated warnings to leave? They had no city water pressure and had to run hoses to the ocean and use their engines to do the pumping. Did you see them risking their lives to enter a home with its facade on the ground and the flames roaring? Did you see 16-hour shift policemen on boardwalks and streets trying to be patient while telling clueless sightseers it was (way past...) time to get the hell out of there?
I saw all this, and it took me back to 2 things you've said:
“I would not support an expansion of collective bargaining rights for public employees." He (Obama) says we need more firemen, more policemen. Did he not get the message of Wisconsin? The American people did. It's time to... cut back on government and help the American people."

Then there was your "...47% of people.....I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."
First responders are the kinds of people you don't support. I wonder how many votes you'll get from people who take "personal responsibility and care" for the lives of others?
Did you hear about the nurses who hustled down 10 flights of stairs carrying newborns and hand-held ventilators? You know what? I'm guessing they were like the FDNY guys on 9-11. If those ambulances were on the ROOF of the power-less hospital, they would have climbed those stairs.
Did you see ambulances standing in water over their tires with "overpaid" personnel who risked not just killed engines, but also danger to themselves and to the newborns going to re-locations?
Finally, you'd like to return FEMA's functions to individual states. Do you actually think there's one Atlantic Coast state with a budget big enough to repair Sandy's damage? No, Mitt, there are times when we need that "Big Government" you're always railing against. This is one of those times.
