They lost it during the debates when they refused to point out falsehoods by Romney or Ryan unless they could match it up with an equal number of Obama or Biden misstatements. Their claim was that if they tended to point-out more problems with what Romney/Ryan had said than Obama/Biden that they would be seen as being biased. Of course this completely misses the point that if ONE side is stretching the truth more often than the other, that by not reporting that fact it's like your saying that they never lied at all.
