hi clo,

okay. but where was the help during the holocaust? and why the need for disease? and what about the sad caterpillar whose body is dinner for a larval wasp?

for myself, the notion that the universe does not favour virtue is inescapable. the rule is that outcomes are morally random in physics and chemistry.

this is perhaps one reason why in biology, groups tend to be altruistic amongst themselves. gives some sort of fortification against the brutality of the rest of nature. and thereby maybe confers a little survival advantage.

Brought up Catholic & attended parochial school, they never pushed the Bible, mostly the commandments.
We were told 'god' ia always watching & IF you are 'good' He will answer your prayers....

As a child & young adult this left me in despair when terrible events occured.
HOW could 'he' allow bad things to happen to good people???

As I shed my religion, I realized bad things happen, & embraced the idea that 'god' puts people in our lives to help during these times.

I find 'religion' can be a dangerous element, especially when twisted people are the leaders of the pack.
