That's correct CF, I guess in an effort to seem balanced I suggested what I don't believe. The right needs the move much more than the left. You're also correct that I want to feed hungry kids, absolutely. I don't believe the NSLP in it's current state is the best way to do it. But again, it's not our most pressing problem and hence likely will not receive the attention it needs. Dependency? yeah maybe too wide a brush and too strong a term but the idea is still there. We can do better. We can do it a manner where we don't give parents food stamps for their kids' meals and give the kids 3 free meals 365 as well. We can do better, it's common sense.

Personally, I see the Republicans moving rightwards, and the Democrats moving into the middle.

I think you've just adopted a conventional "if I say one side is extreme I must say the other is too" kind of model. That just doesn't reflect the world I am looking at. The US political conversation is far to the right of every other country I am aware of.
