Examples of democratic wingnut ideas that are under serious consideration?

Personally, I see the Republicans moving rightwards, and the Democrats moving into the middle.

I think you've just adopted a conventional "if I say one side is extreme I must say the other is too" kind of model. That just doesn't reflect the world I am looking at. The US political conversation is far to the right of every other country I am aware of.

Futhermore, states such as NY have recently established a cap on local property taxes putting even more pressure on school districts' finances. Underfunded federal gov. mandates were already squeezing them. This will cause school meals to further deteriorate in quality. Besides I was using the NSLP as just an example. The control of both parties by their wing nuts advocating pet positions to play to their respective bases and the inability to compromise has caused our gov. to lose effectiveness. The point is, IMO both parties need to be willing to consider more moderate stances and work together to benefit country not party. Thx
