Racism is not innate in this model. Have a look at the article. Race is a voluntary choice of group, just as American is a voluntary choice, or the team you support is a voluntary choice. We tend to dehumanise those we consider outside the chosen group.
Groupism is innate. Choice of group is made in life.
I think this is a very noticeable effect when observing right wing politics. It emphasises these choices. The poor are identified as the lazy and this signals contempt. The liberals are the effete. The Moslems are the threat. The Europeans are the socialists.
So many labels that actually put the adherents in prison. So they are immune to listening. So the other side is dehumanised.
The amygdala made Auschwitz. The amygdala will make Armageddon.
Is the amygdala a rotten tool? No. It is a useful one. It also creates family. It informs instinct so that we can avoid that which we fear. But it also causes damage.
No computer programme. The amygdala has measurable biological presence.
