Nice article. Somewhere, I expect there is a document with those underlying principles written down.

I don't think the folks promoting these views are necessarily insincere. They think these things should work. The reason Republicanism is dishonest is that in the attempt to force the numbers to conform to the theory, they have to torture them. This is what csl and probably others think is normal. You have to torture the stats to make your theory fit reality.

But actually, other folks tend to do things the other way around. They build up theories from the numbers and other facts on the ground. So the policy construction is harder. But it sits fairly easily atop the statistics.

To torture or not to torture. This is the dilemma of the American people.
