Many of us are thrilled! I use the Taconic all of the time.

Dear Fellow New Yorker,

This morning, the northbound AMVETS Bridge in New Castle and Yorktown reopened to traffic more than a month ahead of schedule. This announcement, which Governor Cuomo made yesterday, means a safer and faster commute for nearly 32,000 vehicles that cross it every day.

Reopening the bridge ahead of schedule and on budget shows that under the Governor's leadership, state government is getting things done for the people in a smarter and more efficient way.

The Taconic State Parkway bridge had been closed since March for rehabilitation as part of a $26 million project. Click here for more information on the work that was completed.

As our state works on building and repairing major infrastructure projects all across the state, it is essential that these projects have a minimum impact on the daily lives of New York commuters. That is why Governor Cuomo launched a Drivers First initiative to ensure that our construction projects will minimize traffic delays and make traveling in New York as smooth as possible.

For real-time travel information anywhere and anytime, visit www.511ny.org or call 511.

The new New York puts drivers first.

Sincerely,

The Office of the Governor
