i see you make a further point with respect to elected representatives that we don't entirely agree about. but at least you are not using an equivalence/hypocrisy argument to justify islamic fundamentalism. like me, you think it is bad stuff. i think.
it's a pretty cheap defence to try to justify violence using violence. the hindus learnt this through folks like gandhi. americans learnt it (at least for internal consumption) from martin luther king. so who will do this for islam?
same time, you are not the only one who thinks there are more creative ways than killing people for the us to affect long run outcomes in the islamic world. but the birth of democracy in the east is no guarantee of peace in the short run. clearly there's a lot of pent-up anger to be released.
religion ought to be the vehicle not for anger but for understanding and for peace. seems to me that them thar pulpits are not being used that way in some locales. this is a problem in need of a solution.
