And yes, the filibuster was the barrier ... eventually PPACA was modified to the point were Sen Snowe and other would back off filibuster ... but still vote against the measure.

Public option was the sacrificial lambs of that process (and the abortion stuff).

In the end, I extend to the executive the success of everybody below, near, or beside them that they successfully interacted with, coerced, or hood-winked.

In the end, the executive wins the support of Rep Pelosi et al, secures the vigor of Rep Pelosi ... or not. Not happens a lot.
