i agree. it is all about the cookies.
but to be fair to duke, he is trying to draw attention to the fact he thinks the baker has skills.
actually i think this is arguable. but like you, i don't really care. this is about electing a president whose selection of recipe matters much more than his bakery skills.
but back to duke's point. if folks are looking for a person of stature for president, then do they want to elect a person who made his money from an activity that appeared to create harms as well as goods, but that whatever the outcome always enriched himself; or a man who elected not to begin his career increasing his own wealth but instead chose to help people whose lives were characterised by persistent poverty?
if success equals the creation of personal wealth, choose romney. if success equals the creation of a public good and/or happiness, choose obama.
one gets the sense that republicans admire the former. i admire the latter. just cos someone is rich doesn't make them virtuous. wealth ain't success. it's just money. all sorts of folks have that. bankers. drug dealers. innovators. movie stars. casino owners. loan sharks. heirs. lottery winners.
