it isn't romney personally that concerns me. sure, he is not a great candidate. but so what.
it is the republican ideas he represents.
the greed principle. the cruel attitude to the vulnerable. the desire to use military power to bully other countries into compliance with american interests (note, not values). the adherence to voodoo economics. the slavish submission to the interests of incumbent wealth. the reeling back of necessary regulations, especially on the financial industry. the dismissiveness towards negative externalities, such as carbon emissions and air pollution. the distrust of science if it collides with republican dogma. the phony news channels. the grotesque nationalism. the encouragement of secret rendition and torture. the embrace of fundamentalist christianity. donald trump.
the whole thing is a repellant caricature of a political party.
there is no doubt in my mind - not a jot - that the results of a romney presidency would be far, far worse than a second term for obama.
