things like child tax credit and mortgage insurance deduction are stupid, but I do not know how to unwind them (particularly the mortgage thingy). Non-birthing renters should not be subsidizing me, but again, I don't know how housing valuation and contruction would hold up to unwinding the mort-deduction ...perhaps means test the mort-deduction ... I believe they already means test the child credit.

among the things that needs to be cleared up is the definition of the word "income".

I have heard the double taxation dividend argument ad nauseum. Screw that. A dollar is a dollar. Tax the ones I get. It is social engineering to differentially treat my dollars, something the right claims to be against. That would clear up much of the collapsed nature of the progressive tax system.

* and remove the cap on SSI/M contributions.

Those two items would pretty much take care of things ... not that I'm an accountant or anything.
