My gambling days were limited to shakin' dice with friends for the beers, or playin pool in a couple local watering holes.. Pinball machines, Bingo pinballs, they're called used to pay off under the table when I was in my teens... Good fun particularly Sunday mornings, rather than stay at Mass.. Mom headed up to the Choir, i headed to the local Cigar Store, Frank & Marty's to play pinball, then head back in time to climb in the car to head home! The backroom card players, like now, all know each other, play for years, no way a stranger coming in is going to make out...

Horse racing, other than video links or Reno/Vegas, comes to our County Fair once a year, gal friend ran her horse in 'em, but, not my thing.. Couple tracks in the SF Bay area, but I think one is closed, the other near or gone...

Plenty of horses, but all for riding around here...

Hi Weco:

Gambling and game playing have always been a big part of my life going back to childhood (large family). I gamble modest amounts of money, but any bet makes things interesting. A lot of my social and business contacts revolve around a gambling atmosphere. Two local race tracks have hosted parties and business lunches for me for years, and I enjoy my quarterly casino overnights, almost the only times I stay at hotels - I always stay with friends when I travel. We have a Jack & Jill poker game a couple of times a month.

I did successfully gamble heavily for two or three years in the 1970's on pro football (I wrote a number of clever data thrashing and handicapping programs that worked) to help me meet payroll during those inflationary harsh times when capital was scarce and expensive for a small businessman.
