Yup. Already, I'm reading of Best Buys that are shutting down due to all the people using their stores to scout out and research all the products they want to buy, then hitting the Internet to do the actual purchases.

It was only a few years ago, when Circuit City, Good Guys, CompUSA, Computer City, Egghead and so many other electronic retailers were failing, that pundits were saying that Best Buy couldn't lose. The stock was supposed to shoot the moon. It never did and now even Best Buy is struggling. I suspect that soon we will all be regretting the fact that products will only be found on the Internet with no opportunity to view or try them prior to purchase. By that time, physical stores will be all but gone. With the limited competition they will have, there's not much reason why Internet retailers shouldn't start raising their prices.

It's a shame, but I'll stop short of saying that it's tragic. After all, it's apparently what consumers want, whether they know it or not. It's not the hearts and minds that do the talking; it's the dollars.
