Even if they were within days of settlement Nokia would still file just to keep that option/delay tactic open to them. I too think they are primarily in delay mode rather than close to settlement but this filing does not ensure that a settlement is far away. It does seem that Nokia would rather go out of business than pay Interdigital but when they do have to pony up it is going to be a bitter pill for them to swallow. And a big one that will be tough to justify to shareholders, when you include all the cost of the fight to get there. I think Merritt is sticking to his no discount comment a few years back and Nokia is going to go down swinging and come up bloody.
