Wi-Fi® offload and efforts to reduce wireless network congestion are pertinent and current topics for the mobile industry, and InterDigital, Inc. (IDCC) has been focusing research into the area for several years. The company’s approach, which focuses on intelligent bandwidth management that integrates Wi-Fi offload into a holistic multi-network solution, will be highlighted beginning today at the Telecom Council Carrier Connections conference (TC3), the yearly showcase event of the Telecom Council of Silicon Valley.
Today at 3:10 PT, Narayan Menon, Vice President of Research and Development at InterDigital, will participate in a panel discussion on Wi-Fi offload with representatives from Ericsson, Smith Micro, Ruckus Wireless, and DeviceScape, moderated by Susan Welsh de Grimaldo, Director, Mobile Broadband Opportunities at Strategy Analytics.
In connection with the conference, InterDigital will demonstrate its Smart Access Manager technology today and tomorrow in the conference exhibit area. Smart Access Manager is a device-side policy-driven client that enables devices to aggregate, segment and manage 3G, LTE and Wi-Fi network resources, including application-specific connectivity. In conjunction with network-side policy servers, Smart Access Manager enables carriers and device companies to move beyond implementation of Wi-Fi offload to intelligent bandwidth management, maximizing all available network resources.
