but the degree with which he and Ryan are currently defending themselves on all sorts of things has got to be driving Rove crazy and Axelrod giddy.

Seriously, the "referendum" election has Monday 10-Sept with Mitt back-tracking on health care and Ryan back-tracking on the debt/budget deal.

These guys defending themselves with Obama firing arrows at will is not what mid-September was supposed to be about.

One thing is for sure with team Romney, so far they are awful at controlling the narrative. This has been true for over a year.

This is actually important. Carter had narrative problems. Bill got his narrative hi-jacked (a matter in which he participated). Planes stopped hitting buildings which was they only narrative GW ever had. The pulpit - the ability to control the narrative - is a critical component of being able to implement whatever policy one may have (regardless of whether it is a policy I happen to be fond of or not).
