Hi j-t,

Taking things another step on from your post.

I think what csl is saying is there's a lot of potential exploration to be done in education.

Monolithic supply-side solutions are not the only way to think about how to grow children.

I tend to be a demand-side thinker, and so my world is happy with the kind of variety that matches the variety of the way children learn. We don't all learn the same way.

The downside risk is that children end up not having access to things outside the experience and prejudices of their parents.

So there are legitimate competing forces in play, as usual.

It is interesting to note that most past presidents with school age children have enrolled them in private schools in the Washington area, probably because the D.C. schools are so bad and the security inside them is so bad that they have had no other choice!
